Frustrating medical practice with unhelpful staff

After reading other reviews, it appears I'm not alone in experiencing a receptionist who comes across as discourteous and unhelpful. I shared information provided by my doctor, but they seemed convinced they knew better. While I've generally had positive experiences at this practice, my recent phone call left a bitter taste. I was expecting test results yesterday evening, as my doctor assured me, but received nothing. When no text arrived this morning, I called the surgery to inquire. They claimed the sample was sent to the lab, contradicting my doctor's statement that it could be processed on-site for quick results. Since no note was made, the phone staff completely dismissed the doctor's original information. Being in pain and eager to start antibiotic treatment, I found it incredibly frustrating to be told I must wait longer. I requested to speak with a GP, given the apparent change in circumstances, but was flatly told no one was available today - surprising, considering they were happy to call me yesterday. When I asked why I couldn't speak to anyone, they claimed the doctor was in surgery, though I merely wanted a potential time slot. The conversation escalated, with the staff member raising their voice. I'm thoroughly disappointed with today's service and expected more professional treatment. I can't help feeling that tracking down my own medical information shouldn't be my responsibility, and I've been left feeling uninformed about my own condition.
