Frustrating morning call for a GP slot

Generally a decent healthcare provider, but the appointment booking process is frustratingly impractical. Attempting to schedule a consultation early in the morning often results in either fully booked slots or inconvenient time options that are impossible for working individuals to accommodate. Wouldn't a more sensible approach involve allowing patients to book appointments in advance for the upcoming week or days? But that would apparently be too straightforward and patient-friendly for this practice's liking. The receptionists behave like petty gatekeepers, arbitrarily deciding which patients can access the GP and interrogating individuals with personal questions in public spaces, completely disregarding basic privacy concerns.
