Frustrating nhs experience leaves patient feeling helpless

I'm unfamiliar with NHS since I've been healthy since relocating to the UK and previously handled medical needs by returning to my home country. When I recently sought assistance and approached the reception requesting a dermatologist referral, they merely provided a phone number and instructed me to call. I attempted to contact that number five times, consistently finding myself 10th or higher in the queue. After nearly a week, I finally reached someone, only to discover I required a referral from my NHS GP. The receptionist clearly should have been aware of this prerequisite and provided comprehensive information upfront. Instead, her carelessness resulted in wasted time and unnecessary frustration for me. Not impressed...
