Frustrating phone system blocks essential health service

Attempted to schedule a cervical screening appointment this morning, called at 8:32 and found the phone lines completely overwhelmed, not even given the option to wait on hold, just disconnected immediately. Made two additional attempts about 40 minutes later, with identical frustrating results. It's incredibly disheartening that I'm unable to contact my own medical practice.
