Heartbreaking delays during critical cancer pain management
My father is battling end-stage cancer and requires Morphine for pain management. We submitted a prescription through Pharmacy2u, and the doctors left it pending for over 2 weeks. After calling and urgently requesting immediate action, as he only had one day's supply left, we were told the prescription would take 3 days. Fortunately, my sister managed to secure an emergency prescription in the meantime. After 3 days passed, my mum visited the doctors, leaving my father alone, only to find the prescription still hadn't been processed. My sister called, and they claimed it was being handled immediately. My mum returned, waiting 15 minutes while 4 staff members chatted idly in an empty waiting room. When she finally spoke up about collecting the prescription, she was told it hadn't been completed. They asked her to wait another 20 minutes, and Dr Ditri eventually emerged, promising to process it right then and sending it directly to the pharmacy. At the pharmacy, they didn't have the medication in stock, and because the doctor processed it online, my mum couldn't take the prescription elsewhere. Thankfully, the pharmacist committed to obtaining the medicine and managed to source it that afternoon. How could the staff not comprehend that he is in the final stages of life and desperately needs pain management?! The next morning, I submitted a repeat request to the receptionist. About 30 minutes later, my sisters also requested a repeat, asking the same receptionist if the initial request had been processed. She checked her computer and claimed no request had been made. I am desperately hoping the prescription is ready, or I will absolutely pursue an investigation into their incompetence and failures. I had been with this practice for many years until moving away, and I have never encountered a surgery so utterly incapable! We can no longer use Pharmacy2u, as the doctors have forced us to work directly with a pharmacy. Everything had been smooth until this absolute chaos during a time when we need support, not additional stress! The management and team's performance is shocking!
Soft-spoken, productive, amiable, supportive, compassionate.
