Impossible to get doctor appointment nightmare system

The appointment booking process is absolutely dreadful. Attempting to call at 8 am is a joke - good luck getting through. I understand trying to secure a same-day appointment, but the weekly booking system is utterly nonsensical. If you need a doctor on Wednesday, you're essentially stuck - either endlessly calling each morning with minimal success or waiting until the following Monday and hoping you're not too late. After spending 11 exhausting hours in A&E, with no sleep and constant monitoring, I was discharged and told to see my doctor about heart medications. This morning, I called at 8 am and by 9:30 walked to the surgery (which is challenging for me). I inquired about the hospital report and requested an appointment to discuss my medication. The response? No appointments available. Try again tomorrow at 8 am - this ridiculous circus continues. The receptionist confirmed the hospital report was received but claimed they could do nothing. I pleaded for any available doctor, but was again told to call tomorrow morning. This system is incredibly stressful. I'm not blaming the staff, who are constrained by guidelines seemingly created by someone completely disconnected from patient needs. At 84, I've never experienced such a frustrating medical practice. I typically avoid doctors unless absolutely necessary, but this surgery has consistently disappointed me. I've resorted to self-treatment or private consultations, but my heart condition requires proper medical attention. I've even had appointments where I wasn't checked in, waiting an hour before discovering the issue. The 10-minute consultation format is terrible - meeting a new doctor means 3 minutes of discussion and 7 minutes of typing. You feel completely insignificant, with the doctor clearly eager to end the appointment by the 9-minute mark.
