Inflexible appointment scheduling left me frustrated

I had an appointment scheduled with a clinician for a travel-related vaccination that needed to be administered within a specific timeframe to be effective. The surgery cancelled the appointment by text message and phone call, which I understood and accepted. When I requested an alternative appointment, I was initially told that the earliest available slot would be several weeks away. After making multiple follow-up calls, I was eventually offered an appointment just five days later, which unfortunately clashed with planned travel and was not feasible for me to attend. The surgery indicated they could not accommodate an earlier appointment on any of the weekdays I required, and suggested I pursue the vaccination privately instead. I find it frustrating that after contributing significantly through National Insurance payments, I was directed towards private care simply because the practice could not offer flexible scheduling. The overall approach felt dismissive and inflexible. I am very disappointed with how this situation was handled and intend to raise my concerns formally. I hope other patients will receive more considerate treatment in similar circumstances.
