Lifesaving care despite nhs challenges and long shifts

After reading some negative reviews, I felt compelled to share my personal experience. The new appointment system is significantly improved, with morning and evening standard slots being much more convenient for those working outside Brighouse. If you need same-day care, there's a "sit & wait" option at the end of morning and afternoon sessions, ensuring you'll be seen. It's hard to ask for more than that. Early morning appointments tend to run late; I arrived at 6:50 for my 7:00 slot, and the doctor didn't arrive until 7:15. During our conversation, he shared that he would work until 7:30 that night and only get a half-hour break if he's fortunate. This translates to roughly an 11-hour shift with approximately 10 minutes per appointment, totaling around 60 patients in a single day. Such a workload seems unsustainable for anyone. As others have noted, the issue appears more systemic within the NHS rather than specific to this practice. Dr. Khan was particularly exceptional. I went in with week-long pains, expecting antibiotics, but he thoroughly assessed me, arranged a blood test for the next morning, and had me in hospital that afternoon. It turned out my liver wasn't functioning correctly and could have been seriously dangerous if not caught early. Similarly, when my husband had a painful, growing cyst, I recommended Dr. Khan. He promptly arranged urgent treatment at The Spire @ Elland within days. In my view, this practice does an admirable job within the constraints of an underfunded and overstretched NHS.
