Limited face to face appointments delayed serious diagnosis

My husband was only able to secure one in-person consultation regarding his leg and abdominal discomfort, with subsequent appointments about his pain being conducted remotely or by telephone. He attended a consultation in September where he received a diagnosis of gastritis and a muscle injury. A week later, he attended the emergency department, where imaging investigations revealed a serious condition affecting multiple areas of his body. He passed away seven weeks later. This approach to care was inadequate. Had his condition been identified earlier, he may have been eligible for different treatment options, but instead he experienced considerable suffering in his final weeks. I urge the practice to reconsider its reliance on remote consultations and ensure patients receive face-to-face assessments when clinically appropriate. Other patients should not have to endure what my husband went through. From a grieving and distressed wife
