Long wait for simple finger injection

After submitting a Patchs for a straightforward 10-minute repeat treatment, specifically a steroid injection for my trigger finger, I was scheduled an appointment nearly 3 weeks later! This delay is absolutely unacceptable and seems to be the new norm patients are forced to endure. I discovered my appointment wasn't with a GP, so I called to confirm whether I would actually receive the injection, as my finger is becoming increasingly painful and limiting my morning activities. The dismissive receptionist eventually revealed that this appointment was merely a consultation, with the actual injection potentially weeks away after that! I was then bluntly advised to seek private treatment if my condition was serious!?!?! I've contributed to the NHS throughout my entire working life and now expect basic medical care to be provided promptly - a procedure that should take mere minutes and be completed within a week or two at most. The service is utterly shameful, and I'm completely stunned by the deteriorating state of obtaining even the most basic GP appointment.
