Long wait ruined by last-minute practitioner absence

I waited approximately a month to see a particular clinician for a specific procedure. When I attended my appointment, I was informed by another clinician that the practitioner I had booked with was absent due to illness with no confirmed return date. According to the practice, this clinician is the only one available to perform the procedure I require. I felt this appointment was not productive and my time could have been better used. It would have been more helpful if the practice had contacted me beforehand to clarify the purpose of my visit and to inform me of the clinician's unavailability. I am concerned that there appears to be only one clinician at the practice qualified to deliver this particular procedure, which may affect access for multiple patients requiring this service.
