Medication errors and poor pain management care

I am not a patient at this practice, but my mother is. I am deeply concerned about the standard of care she has received here. As someone with a background in healthcare, she understands that practices evolve, yet she believes that standards of care, compassion and professionalism should consistently improve rather than decline. When my mother first attended this surgery, she was informed that she could no longer continue with medications she had been taking for an extended period. Some were discontinued entirely whilst others were substituted. These changes have had a significantly negative impact on her wellbeing, and when she expresses to me that she sometimes feels her quality of life is unbearable, it raises serious questions about how her symptoms are being managed. We would not accept such suffering in our pets, so it seems wrong that a family member should endure it. Fortunately, my mother is knowledgeable about her medications and their purposes, as this has proven essential given that there have been multiple discrepancies with her prescriptions since being managed by the practice. A previous review from 2018 noted concerns about the practice's standards, yet there appears to have been little meaningful improvement since then. It is disappointing to consider whether receiving adequate medical care is something that should be compromised simply due to living in a rural location.
