Misleading emergency line hurts patient communication

Hopefully this will help raise awareness and potentially save lives. When this medical practice runs out of GP appointment slots, they put an emergency-only answering machine message, which is misleading. In reality, the surgery remains open with clinical, business, and administrative staff still present. They appear to use this method to avoid public communication. The answering machine message should be redesigned to clearly state that GP appointments are fully booked, but offer an option to speak with administrative staff by holding the line. I've attempted to discuss this with the surgery and was informed that staff are reprimanded by management when raising such concerns. There's a genuine risk that a critical call could be lost in this system. Update Since direct replies aren't possible, I'm adding another review to address the surgery's typically arrogant response. They've now admitted that due to staff absences and shortages, they switch to an emergency-only line, compromising patient safety - which is both illegal and unnecessary. Their response mockingly suggests patients with administrative queries call back the next day, yet there's no indication of this on the emergency-only answering machine. The surgery's attitude suggests they view patients as attempting to circumvent their system, when in reality, patients are simply seeking appropriate care while staff are on duty. I urge others encountering such disingenuous and dismissive treatment to persistently challenge the surgery to improve and cease blaming patients for systemic failures.
