Missed phone appointment left me frustrated

I had a second telephone appointment that didn't happen as expected. I was given a specific time window, but when I called the surgery to clarify what was going on, I was told that I shouldn't have been given a time and that the clinician could ring me anytime throughout the day. I'm frustrated with how I've been treated by this practice. They provided good care previously, but since the merger and the pandemic, my confidence in them has declined significantly.

Dear Mr Cockrell Firstly we are sorry for the delay replying. You posted this around Xmas/New Year time- we were really struggling with staff sickness (with Covid) around them so this may have been a factor. I note this was an emergency appointment you requested. I have asked the admin team to double check the messages going out by text to ensure they reflect a guide telephone time rather than specific time in future for telephone appointments. We do and try to stick to the appointments times as best we can but presently if we ring someone and they need to be seen we are asking them to come to the surgery and it is difficult to predict how many people will need to be seen. Emergency surgeries are particularly difficult to predict.
