Mixed Experience: Great Staff, Concerning Doctor Ahmed Issue

Crucial Update: After voicing my concerns regarding Dr. Ahmed and requesting not to have him as my doctor, I was unexpectedly taken off The Elms Surgery’s patient roster without adequate explanation. The surgery asserted that I failed to provide legitimate grounds for my request, which is both false and extremely troubling. This situation suggests that opting out of seeing Dr. Ahmed for any reason might result in removal from their patient list, raising significant questions about transparency and the rights of patients. I strongly urge others to be wary and refrain from making similar requests, as it appears the practice may not address them properly. Overall, my interactions with The Elms Surgery have been quite positive; the receptionists, nurses, and other staff members are genuinely compassionate and attentive. They consistently seem to prioritize patient wellbeing and ensure you feel cared for throughout your visit. However, my experiences with Dr. Ahmed have regrettably contrasted sharply with this overall impression. He has proven to be persistently dismissive, combative at times, and resistant when it comes to acknowledging patient concerns or preferences. There have even been instances where he made decisions without consulting me first—ignoring what I wanted—which only added unnecessary stress during an already challenging time. When approached about these issues directly, he tends to become defensive rather than engaging constructively in dialogue; this has left me very disappointed in his approach as a healthcare provider. While the rest of the team is fantastic at their jobs, I cannot endorse Dr. Ahmed if you are looking for care that respects your needs as a patient.
