Morning phone lines impossible to get through on

This surgery is extremely difficult to reach in the morning when trying to book an appointment. Having attended this practice on two separate occasions over a period of more than 15 years, I have rarely needed to use their services, but unfortunately my experiences when I have required care have not been particularly positive. Just recently I called and was kept on hold for approximately 12 minutes before being transferred to an incorrect department. I called back using the same number and eventually got through, only to be informed that no appointments were available that day. I requested a telephone consultation with a clinician, but the earliest available was a week away, so I contacted 111 instead and spoke to a healthcare professional the same day. This professional advised that I should attend the surgery for an in-person assessment. I attempted to book an appointment yesterday morning and after numerous attempts to get through by phone, I was again told there were no available slots. This morning I tried using the online booking system as suggested, but was informed that I would need to book an appointment to attend the surgery in person. I cannot do this until tomorrow morning, and I anticipate I will likely be told once again that there are no available appointments. I had used the online system on the advice of reception staff, who indicated it would result in a quicker response from a clinician, yet I was subsequently told I needed to secure an appointment instead.
