Serious concern about access and perceived safety.

My daughter and her unborn baby would have died because of this surgery. Feeling very unwell, my heavily pregnant daughter rang NHS 111. They told her to go to the pharmacy. The pharmacist ( Heaton Moor) said she really needed a doctor. The Family Surgery receptionist was helpful and said she'd put the request straight through. The GP ? Nope. They couldn't even be bothered to see my daughter, but simoly told her to go to the pharmacist. IF they'd seen her for simple checks, they'd have realised her heart rate was through the roof and she had Sepsis. A very fast moving condition that could have killed the baby, lost my daughter her limbs or her life. Fortunately my daughter had a midwife appointment a few hours later and the midwife immediately spotted how ill she was. A midwife who was no doubt on a fraction of the salary of the GP who couldn't be arsed to see her. My daughter was rushed to A&E and couldn't even stand uo by the time she got to the ward. Within minutes they had her on bed with drips. Initially they planned to induce the baby early ( 32 weeks) to save her. Fortunately after intravenous antibiotics and 6 days in hospital she was out of the danger zone. A quick check of my daughter's notes would have made it clear she was not a hypochondriac - she very rarely goes to the GP. I highly suspect the GP didn't even do that. Unfortunately my daughter does not want to "make a fuss" and lodges an official complaint against this GP. I certainly hope this doesn't let them off the hook and the Family Surgery realise they could have had 2 deaths on their hands due to his or her lack of care. I'd like to think they've taken their own action and at the very least given this person more training or guidelines to follow. A reprimand even . Unfortunately I suspect otherwise. Not once has anyone apologised.
