Neglectful Care Nearly Cost My Husband's Life

I am extremely distressed by the care provided; if it were possible to assign a zero rating, I would. Over the course of eight frustrating weeks and five visits to this facility, we frequently requested assistance through an online service called Ask My GP. The nurse consistently attended to my husband, but honestly speaking, he needed a physician's evaluation as he was battling both a chest infection and asthma. Eventually, after persistent requests for an actual doctor’s appointment instead of seeing a nurse, he was finally seen by one. Each visit forced him to recount every single detail from his condition; it appeared that no medical history had been recorded from any prior sessions during those eight weeks! We were repeatedly advised merely to "ride it out." The severity of his situation seemed downplayed at each consultation—despite feeling like our time was wasted during these appointments—we continued seeking help because he was genuinely unwell. His symptoms included relentless coughing and episodes of vomiting triggered by that cough. It felt as though his concerns fell on deaf ears. Finally, after considerable persistence on our part, they performed blood tests and a chest X-ray only for them to inform him that all results came back normal. He received just a brief prescription for antibiotics coupled with an even shorter duration of steroids yet showed no signs of improvement; neither the GP nor the attending nurse seemed inclined to listen closely enough when he explained how poorly he felt. Last night I took him directly to Accident & Emergency (A&E). There, the attending physician reviewed his previous X-ray results and noted there were significant shadows present in his right lung—contrary to what we’d been told earlier about everything being clear—and confirmed that there was indeed widespread infection in that lung area. The A&E staff proceeded with another chest X-ray for comparative analysis which revealed more concerning findings. They prescribed stronger antibiotics alongside an extended steroid regimen for treatment—a necessary response given how dire my husband's health situation had become—as being dismissed with advice like "ride it out" is simply unacceptable considering how potentially life-threatening this could have turned out!
