NOT A GREAT SYSTEM

I have attempted to book an appointment with a specific doctor but was told he was booked up for the next 2 weeks and to call tomorrow when new dates were released. I spoke with reception at 0820 who said all his appointments have been filled. In 20 minutes!!!? It is not possible to book a doctors appointment on line so you have to explain your symptoms to the non medical receptionist first. If you go to the surgery to book then you have to tell the receptionist in earshot of all the other patients who are sitting nearby what your issue is. That is so wrong! Medication is only dispensed for a 28 day period, which means for many people that they have to drive there more often and possibly pay parking. So much for Net Zero. Those on long term medicine should be allowed to have medication for a longer period, meaning less travel and more green but I understand that the NHS pays for each prescription so it is in the Practice's benefit that the 28 day rule applies. Patients need privacy and do not need to tell all in earshot what their problem is. Medication for long term treatment should be issued in larger amounts. They should allow booking for doctors appointments on line and for longer than 2 weeks ahead. It works elsewhere. I doubt if any of this will reach the eyes/ears of anyone who will actually be interested in my suggestions but it may help the reputation of the practice if they do so.
