Recently, I suffered from a severely infected abscess. Two general practitioners prescribed antibiotics, but neither medication helped the infection. I was advised to go to the emergency room if the condition worsened. I underwent a painful procedure under local anesthetic at UCL to cut, drain, and remove the abscess. When I called my GP for a follow-up dressing, they booked me at a different medical practice, claiming it was their only option. The next morning, I completed an e-consultation due to feeling unwell, experiencing pain, and suffering bowel disruption from antibiotics. I requested immediate treatment at the surgery but received no response. Forced to take the bus while very ill, I found the nurse unable to provide pain relief or additional dressings. The wound-packing process was extremely painful. I've changed three external dressings and now have none left. My GP has been completely unresponsive. Utterly disappointing. Subsequently, I was compelled to remove and pack my own wound while lying on my kitchen floor, having been abandoned without medical support after my wound leaked through multiple dressings. When I finally spoke with Dr. Low, he was condescending and dismissive. I filed an official complaint but received no meaningful response beyond a promise to investigate. 22.8.2025 The complaint response I received is absurdly farcical. It attempts to avoid accountability and contains inaccurate information. They claim they addressed my dressing needs on the Friday of my scheduled GP appointment, which is impossible. I had to manage my wound with inadequate personal supplies over the weekend before speaking with the GP on Monday. No one called me on Friday, a fact they acknowledge, yet they suggest the dressing issue was "resolved the same day." Their response claims that after reviewing the recording, Dr. Low's attitude was not considered inappropriate, despite my expressing my weekend ordeal and need for support. The GP questioned why I was frustrated, referencing the A&E surgeon's instructions to dress the wound daily or every 1-3 days. However, I bled through all three dressings within 12 hours, prompting my request for more dressings. The nurse suggested emailing my GP for wound assessment, redressing guidance, and pain relief. The complaint handler appears equally ignorant and obtuse, causing unnecessary additional stress. They stated their response would be posted alongside my review unless I object. I have no objection - they can publish their fabricated account and further embarrass themselves!
