Phone calls handled dismissively and without care

My partner called the surgery repeatedly over several weeks and found the telephone interactions to be unhelpful and frustrating. During one call, the line was disconnected when my partner enquired about emergency appointment availability. Subsequently, my partner attended an out-of-hours walk-in service where she was advised to see a doctor. However, rather than arranging an appointment, the service provider attempted to provide a diagnosis over the phone and suggested pain relief medication. We felt that the focus should have been on identifying the underlying cause of the problem rather than simply managing symptoms. We have concerns about the quality of telephone support at the practice and believe there are issues with communication skills among some staff members. We are considering submitting a formal complaint. We are particularly concerned about how vulnerable patients, including elderly individuals, may be affected by these experiences.
