Phone consultation ended abruptly without proper discussion

I was deeply disappointed by the care I received at this practice, particularly during a consultation with a clinician I had not previously met. After years of being prescribed medications to manage my long-term physical and mental health conditions, I had a single phone consultation during which I felt abruptly dismissed. I perceived that I was being judged without a proper medical assessment, and my long-standing medications were stopped immediately without any gradual reduction plan or follow-up review. I felt hurt, stigmatised, and that I had not been treated with respect. I had communicated that I was in a vulnerable state and that continuity of care was important for my wellbeing — yet I experienced what felt like a lack of compassion and professionalism. The manner in which I was treated has left me feeling distressed and has negatively impacted my mental health. I believe that stopping long-term medications without proper discussion and review, particularly for a patient in a vulnerable position, falls short of the standards I would expect from healthcare provision and may not align with relevant professional guidelines and patient protection frameworks. I am pursuing formal complaints through the appropriate channels. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and care, particularly those managing complex long-term health conditions.
