Phone lines impossible to get through on

I have been attending this practice since birth, spanning 34 years. While it is understandable that general practices are currently managing high patient volumes, this practice has transformed from a welcoming and accessible service into one that appears largely inaccessible. In my experience, this decline coincided with an organisational merger. Attempting to contact the practice by telephone is largely unsuccessful. I waited several weeks for a phone appointment to discuss a routine health matter and renew an ongoing prescription, only for the scheduled call to occur at a time when I was unavailable due to work. Getting past the automated telephone system can take considerable time, and when calls do connect, they often go unanswered despite repeated attempts. At this stage, I question whether the practice remains genuinely accessible. In-person visits do not appear to be an option, telephone contact is extremely difficult to establish, and written enquiries receive no response. The only indication that the practice operates is occasional sightings of clinical staff in the local community, though clearly seeking healthcare advice in such informal settings would be inappropriate. I have decided to register with a different practice and would encourage current patients to consider doing the same. For those contemplating registration here, I would advise against it. I would likely provide a more responsive service myself, if only because I would at least answer when contacted.
