Phone queue chaos made emergency booking impossible

I attempted to book an urgent same-day appointment by calling at 8am upon opening. The receptionist advised me to ring back at 8:30, which seemed unusual given the practice had just opened. When I called back at 8:29, I found myself in a queue of 13 callers. After progressing to 5th in the queue, the call unexpectedly dropped. I redialled and was placed 6th in the queue, eventually connecting around 08:50am. The receptionist informed me that no morning slots were available. I explained that I had called at opening time as instructed and had experienced a disconnection. She responded in a disinterested manner, suggesting I call back at 3pm as there may be appointments available then. Due to this experience, I have decided to change practices and would encourage others considering this surgery to carefully reconsider whether it aligns with their needs.
