Phone queue frustration outweighs helpful reception staff

I have been a patient at this practice for over 40 years. I have witnessed many changes throughout this time, some positive and some less favourable. The reception team have consistently demonstrated helpfulness, with certain staff members being particularly supportive. In recent years, I have primarily been seen by nurse practitioners rather than GPs. My main concern continues to be the telephone appointment booking system. When calling from 8am onwards, I frequently find myself waiting in a queue of up to 25 callers, and I am subsequently charged for the extended time spent on hold, which appears to be a result of the practice's service provider arrangements.
