Phone queue left hanging after closing time

I called at 5.52pm and was number 7 in the queue. By 6pm I had moved to number 5 in the queue. I assumed the practice closed at 6.30pm so I remained on the line. At 6.20pm I was number 1 in the queue, so I continued waiting until nearly 7pm, expecting the remaining calls to be processed before staff departed. However, I later found on the website that the practice actually closes at 6pm. I felt disappointed that not all callers in the queue were attended to before the end of the business day. Based on my previous experience working in customer service, I understand that call systems can be configured to prevent new calls from entering while still allowing those already waiting to be served, so I believe this situation could have been handled differently.

I am so sorry I have discussed this case with our managers and i will try to avoid this happening again We do close our phone lines at 6 pm and I would regard it as unacceptable to to do without telling anyone who happens to be in the queue at that point. I think it is much better to clear the queue once we have closed the phone line and i will try to sort this Reception tends to be pretty quiet between 5 and 6 pm; I still need to speak to our reception supervisor who was here yesterday but I think yesterday evening was not an exception to this I dont know if you were caught in some sort of loop within our phone system, which we are due to replace, again, in the next couple of months Once again I apologise for our failure N taylor
