Phone queues make appointments difficult to book

I have become increasingly frustrated with the practice since the merger with the other surgeries. Telephone access has become problematic, with calls frequently going unanswered or the line being engaged, despite there appearing to be adequate administrative staff available. The loss of on-site nursing services means patients now need to travel a considerable distance to access these appointments at an alternative location. When I enquired about travel arrangements, I was simply advised to arrange my own transport. As a long-standing patient, I had no previous concerns about the quality of care or clinical staff until this point. While I understand that service delivery has been affected by recent circumstances, I do not feel this justifies expecting patients to undertake such lengthy journeys. I am particularly concerned about older patients who may struggle to access services due to travel difficulties or who may become discouraged by communication barriers. The current situation feels like an ongoing consequence of recent events that is being accepted without sufficient alternative solutions being offered.
