Phone reception could be friendlier

I called to arrange an appointment and found the receptionist to be quite abrupt, which is consistent with my previous experiences. I often feel anxious about making calls to book appointments due to the manner in which I am spoken to. The interaction feels uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I find it difficult to understand how someone in a patient-facing role continues in this position given the tone and approach they take when communicating with people.
