Prescription cancelled without any explanation given

How can a healthcare provider cancel a repeat prescription without any explanation or notification? I had to contact the hospital's specialist unit to arrange for my medication to be sent, and I'm grateful that the hospital resolved this within an hour. It's concerning that the surgery would take such action without communication, potentially putting patients at risk. The reception staff indicated the prescription had been cancelled by the doctor with no reason provided. I'm thankful for the support received from the pharmacy in resolving this matter.
