Reception gave conflicting information about prescription collection

I experienced poor communication and felt the reception staff were unhelpful during my visit. A clinician advised me to obtain a numbing gel for my child ahead of a hospital blood test scheduled for the same morning. I was instructed to visit reception to request a paper prescription to take to the pharmacy. When I approached reception and explained what I had been told, the staff member was dismissive and curt, stating they did not handle this and that the prescription had already been sent to the pharmacy. I then visited the pharmacy and described what I needed and the reason for it. However, no prescription could be located on their system, and I was advised it may have been directed to an alternative pharmacy location instead. I travelled to the second pharmacy, only to find they also had no record of any prescription. I had arrived at the surgery at 10 am to allow sufficient time for collection and application, but instead found myself sent between multiple locations. This caused considerable frustration, particularly given the hospital appointment was scheduled for midday and the gel needed to be applied an hour beforehand. Upon arrival at the hospital, clinical staff informed me that the surgery should have provided identification stickers for the blood samples, and that the procedure could not proceed without them. They indicated this was standard practice that the surgery should be aware of. This suggested either inadequate staff training regarding correct procedures or inconsistent information provided to me. No apology was offered, and I did not feel the situation was treated with appropriate concern. I found the overall service to be unsatisfactory.
