Reception staff acted as gatekeepers to appointments

I would strongly recommend avoiding this practice. The reception staff member operates as a gatekeeper in an excessive manner. She either lacks enthusiasm for her role or appears dismissive towards patients. When I called requesting an appointment, I was told none were available, but once I mentioned a concerning physical symptom, an appointment suddenly became possible. The practice seems reluctant to engage with patients in person, instead pushing for telephone consultations that are concluded hastily. The clinical staff appear to prioritise their contracted positions over genuine patient care. They give the impression of being rushed and unavailable, yet when attending in person, the premises often seem empty. I witnessed another patient explaining that their relative was unwell, that NHS 111 had been unhelpful, and that the person was unable to travel to hospital, only to be instructed to call back the following day to arrange a telephone appointment. This response seemed inappropriate given the circumstances. I was troubled by what appeared to be a lack of willingness to properly assess patients' concerns rather than relying on patients to self-diagnose. I found it shocking that a healthcare facility could treat unwell individuals with such apparent indifference. Contacting this practice for medical assistance felt as pointless as seeking one type of food from an entirely different establishment. Additionally, during my consultation, the clinician did not appear to conduct a thorough physical examination of the area I was concerned about. This omission was deeply frustrating. In my view, the practice warrants serious reconsideration.
