Reception staff could have handled this better

I had scheduled an in-person appointment but upon arriving at reception and checking in, I was called by a staff member who conducted the consultation over the phone while I remained in the waiting area rather than meeting me in person. This felt inefficient and discourteous, as I could have simply stayed home for a telephone consultation instead. The face-to-face appointment had been recommended by the practice.
