Rude receptionist denies baby diaper change

Passing through town with my newborn, barely a fortnight old, I found myself in desperate need of a nappy change for the little one. Approaching the reception desk, I encountered a staff member who seemed to have embraced their inner Karen with gusto. Despite my plea for a smidgen of compassion, they flatly refused access to the patients' facilities for a simple diaper swap. Their reasoning? My infant wasn't on their books. It's truly disheartening to witness such a lack of basic human kindness, especially when it comes to the needs of a helpless babe. One would think that a modicum of decency wouldn't be too much to ask, but apparently, it's a bridge too far for some. The experience left me pondering: since when did a touch of empathy become such a rare commodity?
