Rude receptionist destroys patient's dignity and care

My father is a patient at Abbey Medical Centre, and while the doctors provide adequate care, the receptionists exhibit some of the most appalling attitudes I've ever encountered. Recently, my father called to request a renewal of his sick note due to being housebound after a stroke, and to discuss his prescription. The receptionist, Gina, was incredibly discourteous during the call. When my father attempted to explain his medication needs, she repeatedly interrupted him, claiming she couldn't understand him and therefore couldn't help. As a stroke survivor who sometimes struggles with memory and communication, my father is already self-conscious about his challenges. He certainly doesn't need a receptionist to further highlight his difficulties. When I intervened to specify the correct medication, Gina suggested he visit the chemist himself - despite him being unable to leave his home. When I calmly explained his situation, she displayed complete indifference and offered no apology, merely suggesting he call back. Eventually, Gina reluctantly agreed that the prescription would be processed and someone would address his sick note the following day. However, I'm bewildered by the unnecessary confrontation we experienced. I find this situation deeply demoralizing for my father, as such interactions significantly erode his confidence. His local GP appears to lack empathy and understanding of his current circumstances. Ironically, this medical centre has an extensive message about not tolerating staff abuse, yet remains oblivious to the hostile treatment patients receive from their front desk personnel. This issue requires careful examination, as I've heard similar complaints from other patients at this practice.
