Rude Receptionist Dismissed My Urgent Health Concerns

After being loyal to this medical practice for over a decade and having built a fragile trust—something challenging for me due to past medical traumas—a single encounter with an unprofessional, dismissive receptionist has completely shattered my confidence. I submitted an e-consult on Monday and received a callback from Tashea about a mid-April appointment. When I inquired whether the doctors had reviewed my medical records, she bluntly responded, "I don't know." I explained my critical health status of heart failure and compromised immunity, and she callously asked "why." Despite detailing my symptoms of cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, and mixed phlegm, she claimed I only mentioned a cough and remained inflexible, making me feel like an inconvenience. Frustrated, I cancelled and secured a consultant appointment the next day, ultimately spending valuable time obtaining antibiotics for a potential chest infection that should have been manageable through my GP. My health remains precarious, with oxygen saturations dropping to 81/82 while sleeping and 90/96 when awake, causing significant sleep disruption. Fortunately, my pharmacist suggested seeking emergency care if my condition persists. This entire situation could have been avoided if the receptionist had demonstrated basic medical professionalism and empathy.
