Staff seem unmotivated unless it's urgent

I feel that the practice only shows genuine enthusiasm when dealing with emergencies, and for other concerns, I often sense that my attendance is viewed as an inconvenience, despite having made significant adjustments to my schedule to be there. While I have managed to obtain some referrals for matters I was worried about, even though they weren't urgent, I found that I needed to take considerable personal responsibility for progressing through the referral pathway and making sure things were actually moving forward. My partner, who is also a patient here, has found it particularly challenging to access the support and referrals he requires because he struggles to maintain the follow-up momentum that I'm able to sustain. The reception team come across as rather unwelcoming, and the open-plan layout of the desk area makes it nearly impossible to have a discreet discussion or maintain any sense of privacy. You can easily overhear the phone calls being conducted by reception staff from the waiting area. Given how spacious the reception area is, I'm puzzled as to why the team are positioned so closely together. My previous practice was considerably more accommodating, so perhaps I've become accustomed to a higher standard of service.
