Staff were rude and ignored accessibility needs
This practice is not suitable for individuals with learning disabilities. I am a carer and legal representative for a person with autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities. The care provided during my client's time at this centre was deeply unsatisfactory. I communicated the situation to a staff member and was required to complete documentation outlining the circumstances. My client has significant literacy difficulties, which the practice was made aware of. I attended all appointments with my client to provide support. Despite this, I received a complaint about my manner of communication. In January, I attempted to order medication through the NHS app but was unable to access it, so I contacted the surgery. I was informed that my client was no longer registered with them. The staff member who spoke to me was dismissive and spoke in a manner I found disrespectful to both myself and my client. I was told that a staff member had sent letters to the property giving 28 days notice of removal from the register. I was shocked and requested to speak with a doctor. This person was also rude and refused to transfer me to another member of staff, stating my client was no longer their responsibility. My client requires regular medication and many other prescriptions. The sudden removal from the practice caused significant difficulty, as I was unable to find alternative GP care in the area. My client experienced considerable suffering due to the interruption in their regular medication, which they had been taking for 20 years. The letters notifying us of removal were sent via email in document format, despite the practice knowing my client cannot read or write properly. I had provided my contact details, which were ignored. I have evidence of text messages cancelling appointments that the practice later claimed my client had missed. This treatment of a vulnerable person is unacceptable, and the handling of this situation has caused considerable harm.
