Sweltering Waiting Room Risks Elderly Patients

I accompanied my aging mother to her medical appointment today. In the upstairs waiting area, she and other senior or fragile patients were forced to endure approximately 15 minutes in an unbearably hot space. A dilapidated, worn blind covered only part of the large bay window, and no cooling mechanism was present. While the doctors' area and reception were comfortably air-conditioned and equipped with fans, the patient waiting rooms were inexcusably overheated. It's ironic that this medical practice dispenses guidance about heat safety for vulnerable individuals, yet simultaneously disregards those very recommendations, potentially compromising the health of those they are meant to care for. The stark contrast between the comfortable staff areas and the oppressive patient spaces was both disappointing and concerning.
