Tenth in queue but still couldn't get an appointment

I called at 8am as instructed to request an appointment with a specific clinician, as I was told appointments could only be booked on the day. Despite being 10th in the queue, I was informed that no appointments were available with any other clinician, only with the one I preferred not to see. This seemed inconsistent given the practice's typical appointment availability. When I questioned this, I felt the explanation provided was unsatisfactory, leaving me frustrated with the booking process and the lack of clarity around how appointments are allocated.
