Terrible service for vulnerable autistic child

Ashfield Medical Center repeatedly denied a referral for my nonverbal, autistic child, even while we were still registered patients. I exhausted every possible avenue to secure a doctor's appointment for this referral. Although the doctor supported the referral, the medical secretary adamantly refused to process it, insisting I must register with a new practice due to an impending house move. She persistently harassed me through multiple phone calls, even threatening to remove us from their patient list if I didn't register with a new surgery within 28 days. If they could grant me 28 days to register with a new surgery, what possible obstacle could prevent them from processing the referral during that same timeframe? I felt specifically targeted and discriminated against. The very professionals meant to support vulnerable children are instead systematically failing them. The referral was critically urgent. In a life-or-death scenario, my child would have perished before I could complete the registration process. It ultimately consumed approximately three weeks to successfully register with the new surgery, followed by additional days needed to secure an appointment with a new doctor.
