Unacceptable medical service puts child at risk

After decades of reliable service, I'm truly frustrated with the phone support today. My young granddaughter was seriously unwell, running a high fever, throwing up, and appearing extremely weak. Her mother contacted 111 and was urgently advised to see the GP immediately. When we attempted to call the surgery, the phone rang continuously for five minutes before disconnecting. Multiple attempts yielded no response. Ultimately, my husband had to drive to the practice and demand an explanation. Their casual response was simply that they had staff shortages. It's unacceptable that they don't implement a proper queuing system for phone calls during such critical situations. I'm now preparing a formal complaint to the practice manager about this unprofessional and potentially dangerous communication breakdown.
