Unhelpful service leaves patient frustrated and disappointed

I currently reside in the Sultanate of Oman. Last month (May 2022), while in the UK managing my late mother's estate, I misplaced some of my medications. Having been registered with this surgery until about three years ago, I returned to request replacement medicine, providing a comprehensive list of required medications and their dosages. After my THIRD visit, I was informed that I could not receive any medication without presenting the original medication boxes and prescribing doctor's labels. The specific tablets I urgently needed were 20 mg esomeprazole magnesium, so I reluctantly went to Boots across the street, where a helpful assistant informed me these tablets were sold under the name Nexium and available over-the-counter. Consequently, I paid 7 pounds 49 pence for medication I should have received freely, given that I had paid higher National Insurance contributions for decades specifically to ensure access to State Pension and healthcare. I subsequently submitted a strongly worded complaint on the NHS website. Today, I received a condescending response from the Practice Manager, suggesting I was on vacation - which was untrue - and that I should have ensured sufficient medication before travelling. In fact, I had done so but accidentally lost some. Having traveled between the Arab Gulf and the UK two to three times annually for over 40 years, this was the first instance of losing medication. Yet when seeking assistance, I encountered only indifference, and upon complaining, those responsible proved self-righteous and unresponsive. Steer clear of this establishment.
