Unprofessional doctor ruins healthcare experience

I am writing to convey my deep frustration with the utterly unprofessional treatment I experienced during my consultation with Dr. McKenna. As a first-time patient seeking help for a debilitating knee injury that has severely impacted my mobility, I was shocked by the doctor's callous and dismissive approach. Within moments of observing my obvious limp, Dr. McKenna mockingly declared me "clearly fine" and suggested I hadn't broken my knee - a claim I never made. Throughout the appointment, the doctor barely acknowledged my genuine concerns, adopting a condescending and hostile demeanor. When I attempted to explain the extent of my pain and its impact on my daily life, Dr. McKenna rudely retorted, "I'm not your mother," making me feel like an unwelcome nuisance rather than a patient in need of compassionate care. When it came to prescribing pain medication, Dr. McKenna's communication was equally inadequate. After attempting to inquire about proper dosage and frequency, I was met with a dismissive response and no actual guidance. I was forced to independently research safe medication usage. The appointment's atmosphere was so toxic that I felt compelled to end it prematurely. As a Health and Social Care student, I was astounded by the complete disregard for patient care principles we rigorously study. Having role-played numerous patient interaction scenarios, I was stunned to experience such unprofessional behavior firsthand. Moreover, Dr. McKenna inappropriately and incorrectly referenced my mental health history, mentioning non-existent antidepressant use - a completely irrelevant and distressing intrusion. Despite being a long-standing patient at this practice for 11 years, this experience has definitively prompted my decision to change GP surgeries. Never have I encountered such a profound lack of empathy and respect from a healthcare professional. As Dr. McKenna mentioned documenting our interaction, I sincerely hope the record accurately reflects her conduct, which would undoubtedly raise serious questions about her professional competence. I strongly recommend the practice thoroughly investigate this incident to prevent similar traumatic experiences for other patients.
