Urgent insulin prescription still not issued

I recently joined this medical practice as a new patient. Being a type I diabetic, I depend on consistent insulin prescriptions. I submitted my initial online medication request on 25 October, yet by the 29th, no prescription had been processed. When I visited the surgery in person that day, a friendly receptionist promised to have the GP sign off on my prescriptions immediately. Upon checking the online service on 1 November, I discovered the prescriptions were still marked as "requested" rather than "issued", prompting another call to the surgery. A second courteous receptionist explained the original GP was absent and pledged to forward my request to another doctor right away. While the reception staff have been consistently helpful and polite throughout this experience, I'm deeply concerned and anxious: I deliberately request my repeat medications well in advance to prevent potential health emergencies, but over a week has now passed for this critical, life-sustaining medication. Though this might be an isolated incident, it raises serious doubts about the practice's efficiency and makes me question whether I should seek a different surgery that demonstrates more reliable and timely handling of prescription requests for patients with chronic conditions.
