Utterly disappointing and deeply frustrating experience.

I began arranging my repeat prescription with the practice in early September, clearly explaining that I would be travelling abroad for six months and needed a six-month supply of my regular medication. After weeks of back-and-forth, I was eventually assured — by both the practice manager and the clinical team — that this would be authorised in full. To make sure nothing went wrong, I even visited the surgery in person to confirm that everything was in order. Despite those assurances, when I arrived at the pharmacy to collect my prescription just before departure, one-third of the medication (my HRT) was missing. This is not a complex prescription — there are only three items on it — yet the practice still managed to make a serious, last-minute error. The failure created unnecessary stress, forced me to spend hours chasing emergency solutions through NHS 111, and very nearly jeopardised travel plans that had been months in the making. After being told repeatedly that the issue was sorted, this level of administrative incompetence is unacceptable. It demonstrates a lack of care, poor internal communication, and no appreciation for how their mistakes directly impact patients’ lives. I would urge anyone relying on this surgery for continuity of medication to double-check everything in writing and not take verbal assurances at face value. Patients deserve better than this.
