Waited in Rain for No Appointment

After calling ahead to understand the appointment process, a kind staff member informed me I'd need to queue from 7:30 am. I stood in the pouring rain from 7:20 until 8:00, positioned fourth in line. When finally called, I was asked about my condition, only to be told no appointments remained. Three individuals before me secured slots, while I was left without. This was my sole day off in a fortnight, and I had hoped to consult a physician. Consequently, I've been scheduled two weeks from now. I contacted 111, underwent extensive questioning, and am now awaiting a callback from the surgery's doctor. The irony is palpable. It seems inappropriate that patients must disclose personal medical details to receptionists with other people within earshot, potentially compromising privacy and dignity.
