Waiting 20 Minutes to Be Told No Appointments

Giving just 1 star because that's the lowest possible rating. Called at 7:59 AM, stuck 10th in the queue, and the surgery doesn't even open until 8 - how does that work? Tried speaking with reception about seeing a doctor, only to get the runaround: "No appointments available, but a doctor will call you to schedule." An on-call physician rings back, and when I explain my situation, he says, "I'm just the emergency doctor, you need to book through reception." Right back where I started. Called reception again, now 12th in line, wasting another 20 minutes, only to be told no appointments are open until November? November?! When I stress my need to see a doctor today, they mumble and suggest a slot a week from now. Absolutely useless. This is a prime example of the NHS's complete dysfunction and total inability to provide basic healthcare. Looks like I'll have to pay privately - the service is utterly deplorable.
